## Just Another "Wish for Change"

There is currently a "Wish for Change" proposal \[based on [**Robert Habermeier**](https://www.rob.tech/)*(co-founder of Polkadot)*'s plan\] that is asking the community's support if it would be okay to add a new feature to the Asset Hub that would allow creating programs *(called smart contracts)* directly on Asset Hub. These programs would make it easier to manage digital assets stored on the Asset Hub and it will be written in a popular language called Solidity *(a language for writing smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain, originally proposed by Gavin Wood back then)*. The idea is to improve efficiency, make it more user-friendly, thus, making it easier for developers and businesses to build projects within the Polkadot ecosystem. However, there are also potential drawbacks just like the increased complexity and competition for existing blockchain projects. If approved, the new system would be launched by the end of this year.

Solidity on Asset Hub?

The solution consists of an Unbonding Queue similar to the one Bifrost uses for its LST.

If the proposal is approved, the unstake of the relay chain could be carried out in just 2 days.

It is encouraging to note that such efforts have been given an unplanned exposure by circumstances outside the research team’s controls.

But what is exactly this Hyperbridge *(developed by* [*Polytope Labs*](https://linktr.ee/polytope%5Flabs)*)* and what it means to the future of blockchain’s interoperability?

## A Simple Explanation

Think of different blockchains working as separate islands and the island has laws of its own and a currency of its own. A hyperbridge can be visualized as a swift and sure means of transport or vessel that can also transport people and products from one of these islands to the other with efficiency and safety.

The current issue is that there exists a very slow and costly means of transport between these island and sometimes they are are characterize by high levels of insecurity as well.

Now, a hyperbridge has evolved to mean a high-capacity boat that provide transport of both people and goods across the islands at a fast pace, at a low cost and risk free. It employs modern technology to enable everything that is done in it to be appropriate and weeds out piracy. Therefore, this is how hyperbridge acted as a solution to that problem.

And why hyperbridge matters? This is solely because hyperbirdge creates an opportunity for blockchains to interconnect and thus create such beneficial prospects such as increases in speeds of transactions, enhanced security in financial systems and aspect of development of new applications.
