Dawn of Shiba Tales and the Bailego

Foreword

This post was a long time coming but hello, world! Yaki here, reporting from inside the mad house known as the Infinity Triangle (IT). With RMRK 2.0 nearing the horizon, we've put together this detailed post on what we've been up to at Shiba Tales HQ and all of the cool things that will happen soon.

Who are you guys anyway?

Behind the scenes of the IT is Tako and me, Yaki. We have only really been part of the crypto space since the beginning of 2021, but opportunities started to open up for Shiba Tales through our involvement with the Kusama community and collaborating with the RMRK team on various artistic endeavours.

IRL, we have 2 cream coloured Shibas named Yuki and Jubilee, but after 14 amazing years of companionship, Yuki departed this physical plane on 4/20/2021. Tako and I have been rocked with so much emotion and “silver lining” blessings from this painful event, and the most important gift was finally launching our Web3.0 project Shiba Tales as a homage to Yuki, who would have wanted us to finish what we started 10 years ago. Even though Yuki isn’t here anymore, he is very much alive in our hearts and on the blockchain! Yuki has been reincarnated as the captain of the IT, Yaki, and all of the shibalings have been appropriately named to be some derivative of Yaki from many Japanese dishes (Takoyaki, Yakiniku, etc…).

What is the Infinity Triangle?

The Infinity Triangle is a spacecraft that encases a multi-dimensional doorway to other worlds and time periods. Tako and Yaki have met EIGHT new comrades this way, and together all of the shibalings must work together to help Yaki navigate the IT safely across an intergalactic map. Since there is no real source of energy aboard the ship to power it up and make it move long distances, Tako and Yaki sought an alternative fuel source from within the IT. It didn’t take long for the shibros to discover that the spacecraft responds really well to music and dancing as a source of rocket fuel (but not as good as real fuel)!

What is Bailego and what can I use it for?

Bailego is what powers the Infinity Triangle; you can say that it is the language of the spacecraft. The word comes from “baile" (‘dance’ in Spanish) and ”go” (‘language’ in Japanese); the term was heavily influenced by Tako and Yaki’s past lives as dance fitness instructors. Bailego can be obtained through interacting with the ship and with other shiba avatars. Other Bailego uses:

Governance token—guiding the Infinity Triangle on where to go to next (story and tech wise) with your vote
LP and staking opportunities on distant worlds
Voting on the following month’s musical set
Purchasing items and equipment for your shibaling avatar
Upgrading dance radicals so that they are more powerful and land a higher score
Levelling up the shibalings to unlock new features on the IT and new dance skills
Dance battling others!

So Shiba Tales is a game…..?

Shiba Tales is a lot of things but it started out as a digital comic between 2 Shiba inus, Yuki and Jubilee. It has since grown into a full-blown Web3.0 dancing game dApp in the browser, all influenced by the RMRK 2.0 NFT protocol. The dance choreography that users mint with Bailego are nested NFTs—each song’s choreography consists of dance “radicals”—in Japanese language, Kanji characters are constructed with these radicals, tiny pictograms, that when combined with other pictograms, produce a new word. In Shiba Tales, radicals are the building blocks for more complicated and rare dance combinations; interestingly, these NFTs can also be dismantled for their radicals using special salvaging tools that can be purchased with Bailego. In the future, users will be able to create their own choreography using any of the dance radicals in their arsenal!

Who are the stars of Shiba Tales?

The shibalings are all unique, but they come from the same Shiba Tales colour palette. The names are derived from fried Japanese foods (hence, “Yaki”). Coincidentally, each shibaling’s favourite food is based on this info, so when fed to the appropriate shibaling, they will gain some experience because you satiated their hunger!

Here’s a cool fact about the shibalings: when it’s time to impress the Infinity Triangle with dance moves and offer up rhythmic energy, every Shiba specialises in at least one dance rhythm, and the newer shibalings add a multiplier bonus to the final dance score (more info on this in a future post). The result is a super-charged dance number that nets rewards based on the final performance score! The shibalings call this “choreoke”, which is like karaoke but with dancing.

Closing thoughts

Our current promo for the debut of these new cast members has begun! Tako is listing those NFTs now with a floor price of .213 $KSM. Collectors and Shiba Tales supporters will be able to claim Bailego tokens from ANY Shiba Tales NFT if you’ve purchased from one of our previous collections. This functionality is all coming soon in a future UI, so in the meantime HODL those shibamojis! Current supporters and Shiba holders will be airdropped art rewards and Bailego from time to time. We are super excited to roll out the full gaming mechanics behind Shiba Tales.
