Talisman is a sleek and exciting new wallet for the Dotsama ecosystem that is days away from public launch.

I have been lucky enough to be able to test it over the last few weeks and even where not explicitly supported it mostly just works in place of Polkadot{.js}.

From my testing you can use it in place of Polkadot{.js} on the Moonbeam DApps page at:

Please first refer to the official documentation on crosschain assets on Moonriver by the Moonbeam Team as you will use MetaMask in conjuction with Talisman:

Now if you would like to use Talisman I recommend you **Unlock** first, as the Moonbeam dapp doesn't appear to trigger the login and may get stuck, if this happens try to **Unlock** Talisman and then reload the page.

## Deposit xcKSM

If you click on **Deposit** in the below tile:

The following window will pop up, even though we are not using Polkadot{.js} click **Connect**.

You will then have a pop-up from Talisman to select which accounts you would like to connect to the Moonbeam Dapp.  
  
The names here were set when creating or importing an account in the Talisman extension.   
  
You can select multiple if you like, I have done so to demonstrate in the next step.

I had selected 2 accounts in Talisman and as you can see they are both available in the list box here to use:

Here I have selected my Kusama - Main account and a deposit of 0.2 KSM. Review the details and confirm the Moonbeam account is also correct then hit **Send**.
  
Note: Under the textbox *Balance* is the transferrable KSM balance. This can differ from the amount shown in Talisman as currently there it shows a total balance however some KSM can be reserved or locked (eg. Identity, Governance)

There will be a pop-up from the Talisman extension to Approve the transaction. Hit **Approve**.

If succesful the Deposit Window should close and these little transaction notifications pop up in the top right of your screen. You should notice your balance for xcKSM update shortly.

As the Moonbeam dapp will now be a Trusted Site, unless forgotten/revoked, there will be less steps involved in future.

## Withdrawing xcKSM

With withdrawals you only need to paste in the Kusama address you wish to withdraw the xcKSM to. So the Talisman wallet is not strictly needed.

To copy the address from the Talisman extension. Open it up. Click the **Copy** icon next to the account you'd like to use.

You can either scroll down or search for the asset in the search box, in this case *KSM*. Click the Copy icon on the desired network.

You will then have a success message drop down.

You're good to go, the address is in your clipboard and can refer to Moonbeam Team's official documentation for the rest of the withdrawal process.

### Fumbling My Way Through RMRK 2.0 - SEND Interaction

If you have a RMRK 2.0 NFT with nested children you can remove them by selecting and clicking 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁.

For now you can't reverse the process in the UI and nest an NFT as a child again or essentially put it back in the backpack.

Luckily it's a good way to dive in and learn how to do it on-chain.

For this example I'll use Tricky's RMRK Experience, the OG edition came with 5 Promo variants of the Experience nested within.

Once removed there is no way in the UI to put them back. :(

To do it on chain, you need to use the SEND interaction, the format from the RMRK 2.0 standards is:

		0x{bytes(rmrk::SEND::{version}::{id}::{recipient})}

What you do is essentially send one NFT to another NFT, if both NFTs are owned by the same account this is a very simple process.

So first we need to construct a string as below:

		RMRK::SEND::2.00::[ID of Sent NFT (Child)]::[ID of Recipient NFT (Parent)]

Note that the sent NFT becomes a child of the recipient NFT.

The square brackets are placeholders, you substitute with the intended NFT's IDs.

The NFT's ID can be found in it's Attributes or at the end of it's URL.

I am sending the Promo to the OG. So the Promo becomes a child of the parent OG. Another way of thinking about this is I'm putting the Promo into the OG.

		RMRK::SEND::2.0.0::11651616-388c3c690f11554553-RMRK2XP-Tricky_Promo-00000042::11651551-388c3c690f11554553-RMRK2XP-TRICKY_OG-00000042

Now you need to submit a transaction with this remark extrinsic on-chain.

To do that this then needs to be converted to hex, you can use the following site:

Make sure to untick Spaces Between Bytes.

4. Type a prefix of **0x** for hex, then paste the converted string from earlier after it.

5. Submit the transaction and Sign & Submit in the next window. Then approve in your favourite wallet ;).

If you have the NFT open in Singular you may see this pop up.

If all went well you should now see the NFT as a child in the parent NFT's backpack.

Also if you view the child NFT you should see the text **In inventory of:** with a clickable link through to the parent.

The move to root interaction you can do through the UI is just sending the NFT to your KSM address instead of another NFT. You can check the extrinsic in a block explorer.

You can do even more with SEND but that is a story for another time.

Having caught up on some content by the more active members of [Wag Media](https://twitter.com/thatMediaWag) I was feeling unnaturally inspired and curious. I'd heard [The Dotama Experience](https://linktr.ee/thedotsamaexperience) was nearly ready and had some questions I'd wanted to ask an architect.

I started to do some digging and decided to reach out to the lead architect [One Raw Artist](https://twitter.com/one_raw_artist) and we did a Q&A.

But quickly before we jump into, what is The Dotsama Experience ?  

[The Dotama Experience](https://www.thedotsamaexperience.com/) is an evolving virtual space to educate and learn about the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems. It has been built in the [Neos](https://neos.com/) VR metaverse. It is a community focused virtual reality metaverse that is free-to-play.

Things fell into place just as I was about to ask my questions and I actually got the opportunity to check it out beforehand.

So I'll get to that Q&A.

#### Q: I will start with the more obvious about yourself... how long have you been working in your field ?
> I graduated university in Summer 2018 , I have a Masters degree in Sustainable Architecture.

#### Q: How long you have been involved in crypto in general and also NFT and metaverse work ?

>I did watch crypto as everyone back in the day "breaking records in the headlines" but high gas fees kept me away. Til I found KodaDot, open source website with low gas fees and on Nov 19th 2021 I sold my first nft.

This NFT was this wood [Dome](https://nft.kodadot.xyz/rmrk/detail/10135764-FC77C33AB229A2056A-RAWCONCEPT-THE_DOME-0000000000000009) that sold on [KodaDot](https://nft.kodadot.xyz/), a marketplace for NFTs on the Kusama network using the RMRK standards.

#### Q: You seem to be multi-talented. Illustrations, industrial design and sculpture also. Which do you enjoy the most or are most passionate about, do you feel they naturally overlap and are mutually beneficial ?

>To answer that question we have to go back to where it started

>From graffiti to doing calligraphy, back to doing murals then photography for a while, then photo editing, that led to learning Photoshop and that led to doing graphic and logo design.

###### I added the emphasis there as it stood out to me as as really good advice.

#### Q: How did you get involved in The Dotsama Experience, did you have an interest in Neos, VR or metaverse content before ? 

>I made a lot of buzz on KodaDot, being the only artist doing architectural concepts as NFTs. 
So when one of the devs contacted me and asked if I wanna be part of the Dostama Experience I loved the concept so I had to say yes ^^

>This was the first time I worked on a Neos / VR project, but I believe I was meant to do it. All the random skills I gathered all these years made perfect sense when working on a metaverse


#### Q: Can you provide an overview on what was involved in the design for The Dotsama Experience ? 

>The challenge with the Dotsama experience project was the number of the parachains. 100 on each floor, and you have to show that they are equal.

It's definitely not boring.

So I was always interested in what it was like doing this sort of work and that really formulated my next few questions.

#### Q: With the metaverse and digital design do you find you are able to be more creative without real world limitations where it may be impossible or unviable to build?  

#### Buildings don't need water closets and plant rooms. Are you able to push boundaries more in this environment where the rules are more flexible and can be broken ? 

>The real world has structure and budget limits while the metaverse has graphic engines and frames per second as limits. ^^ 
>
>Working on the metaverse gives you great freedom when your are designing, you are able to design the experiences you wish were possible in real life. The only thing to keep in mind is how much freedom you can have before it becomes chaos, so when i design I try to bring the visitors to one or two steps from reality. Because if you push it too far it will be annoying to users.

It's definitely thought provoking that perhaps you cannot push too far and that users still desire a tether of sorts back to reality.

I also had asked about this regarding his G&B collection where glass and metal sculptures defy gravity and spin in perpetuity.

>The G&B collection is a "what if that was possible type of art work" there's no crazy VFXs or modeling tricks in that collection, there's only the beauty of the materials and the hypnotizing movement of the simple shapes. It's the kind of sculpture you look at when you want to think about something.


#### Q: On the flipside, real world architecture is say heavily influenced by where it is built and so what society built it, why and for what ?

#### So people may be limited by both what is practical and possible for the space, what resources are available and what needs to be functional in that environment. 

#### Do you think those restrictions can make it a worthwhile challenge to build with inherent limitations and restriction to find a balance and compromise for the best outcome ?

>I would say we still design within that frame, we still design for humans, and human experiences, so our designs still have to answer to the needs of the client and must fit the topic at hand.
>
>On one hand the metaverse community is one, so I would be designing for one community. 
>
>But on the other hand, users have different expectations for each metaverse they go into. So building for an art gallery is not like building for a music concert. They have different expectations for different events so you need to fully understand the expectations of the end user. Build a design that provoke certain emotions in the visitors plus surprising them with a metaverse only experience. And for the limitations: we are pushing it to the egde each time to deliver the best experience possible for most machines possible. 
>
>Because each metaverse has it's own limits and graphic engine, but I don't focus on that too much, because graphics didn't stop video games like Super Mario from being the favorite game of all times for millions of gamers. So I just focus on giving the best experience possible. Then when the technology is better I will still be on that edge designing the best experience possible  
  
#### Q: What do you plan on doing in future ? Do you see yourself doing more NFTs, metaverse or gaming content ? 

>I will definitely do more metaverse projects, because I enjoy the creative process so much and there's still so much to explore in this new era of human civilization. 

>There isn't books on how to design for the metaverse yet, so what we are doing right now is what architecture books will analyze in the future, so in other words: we are writing history, one design at a time.

>NFTs will always be that itch that I have to touch once in a while ^^

#### While asking all this I reflected  a bit on how I haven’t really indulged a more creative side and have had an itch to now that I’m a bit older and he offered this advice I feel is a nice way to close out.

>It’s never too late to start anything. Only compare yourself to yourself yesterday, make sure you make progress everyday, no matter how small it is. You owe yourself that.

It's an amazing space.

My path actually crossed with MXS, another architect while I was exploring, but that is a story for another time.

Also I like the touch of the ceramic Kabochas in each wing.
