Bluesky Becomes Brazil’s New Social Hotspot with 1M Users In 3 Days!
After X got banned in Brazil another Jack Dorsey co-founded app have emerged to the rescue and bagged 1M users in just three days, yes, 1 million in 3 days. The servers were working "after hours" and nearly melted to attend the demand of Brazilians want to hangout and express themselves socially.
Is like transferring all X users in 3 days to Bluesky that needed the app to start showing more Portuguese content to welcome it's new players in the house. They even call it "the Brazilian app" and it funny that knowing or not they just got enrolled in the nearly decentralized social app built by former Twitter people, now X.
Bluesky co-founder Jack Dorsey and teammates built it to slowly migrate to a decentralized social app, not yet decentralized but with significant step towards decentralization.
A little bit of history from Bluesky let us understand that the App was created to be an open, decentralized social network protocol called Authenticated Transfer Protocol (AT Protocol). The idea from the creators of Bluesky was to allow different social platforms to interoperate, giving users control over their data, algorithms, and identity across multiple platforms.
But still on early stages and it's operates as more like X, however in long-term vision is to decentralize it's infrastructure so that no single entity controls the network.
It's here where the Brazilians found w refugee after De Moraes get X banned and it's like he push them to Bluesky an app "similar" to X in its format and UI. They don't have another thing to do as if get caught using a VPN could pay a lot in fines up to $9,000 worth in the Brazilian currency per day.
Hmm, the servers didn't meltdown and the Brazilian X people are now on Bluesky, big win, proving that they need a social platform for their hanging out and work. De Moraes just pull some people food from their table with the X monetization program and making them start from zero. What a government!
