3 Years In: El Salvador’s Bitcoin Dream is Alive, But Are the People?
El Salvador have been using Bitcoin as legal tender for three years now and still a lot to be done in the nation. Vibes are mixed but it's necessary to understand that what Nayib Bukele nation is accomplishing take time and people need to get in the spirit of acceptance of the currency. It's not easy but they are in the right direction.
Nayib Bukele started offering a generous $30 dollars airdrop to all his people who could get verified with the Chivo wallet, the country Bitcoin wallet. Many did that for the airdrop but left it right away as the wallet presented challenges that they couldn't figure it out. But the country still buying 1 Bitcoin daily until they can't no more.
They have on their vault more than 5,865 Bitcoin and keep their wallet within their border in a physical wallet. They usually receive donations in that wallet as it's for public domain and helps to ensure its transparency.
El Salvador still have a long way to go but is doing something in the right direction and soon they will have their Bitcoin City where everything could be used Bitcoin to get. I wish all the best to Nayib Bukele people and lets learn from them that is possible to use Bitcoin as legal tender despite all the challenges that involves. Remember:
