During a new interview with Deadline, Dana Walden, co-chairman of Disney, the parent company of FX, briefly commented on the status of Shogun Season 2 and said that the timing won't be accelerated: "We like to prepare it carefully. We won't release Season 2 until it's ready."

Given the huge popularity and huge success in terms of awards of the first season, one might have feared that the studio would want to rush things to ride the wave of popularity, but it seems that things won't be going that way. On one hand, this makes us hope for the quality of the first season, but on the other, it suggests a long wait.

After all, Disney and FX surprised everyone when, last May, they surprisingly announced Shogun 2 and Shogun 3, even though the project was born as a mini-series based on the novel by James Clavell. The book was adapted in its entirety with the first season, and now seasons 2 and 3 will tell original stories.
