GTA 6: Take-Two CEO questions impact on real-world violence 1
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, was interviewed by CNBC and on this occasion he talked about violence in video games and especially in GTA VI: could the Rockstar game generate a new wave of violence for the spirit of emulation among the very young? Many fear this eventuality but Zelnick is not at all worried about it.
According to Zelnick "video games and films do not create behaviors from nothing but reflect behaviors that already exist. I am not at all worried about the fact that GTA 6 could push people to commit real-world crimes. Our goal is to tell stories."
Of course, it is difficult to think that the CEO of a large publisher could affirm the opposite, that is, that one of its flagship video games pushes people to emulate violent behaviors. According to a recent study, video games do not incite violence but can actually be valid allies in reducing stress.
In the past, Rockstar Games has been accused of promoting the cult of violence with games such as GTA 3, GTA San Andreas and the more recent GTA V but the company has always defended itself by stating that it creates entertainment for an adult audience and that it does not in any way want to push and/or promote violence in the real world.
