Polkadot Digest 22 June 2023
Polkadot News
The names of the Statemint and Statemine parachains have been changed to the Asset Hub Polkadot and Asset Hub Kusama, respectively. https://forum.polkadot.network/t/the-naming-of-things-viz-statemint/2328
Please note that starting with runtime 9430 (the next planned Polkadot runtime, estimated to activate 18 July), controller accounts will be deprecated. Existing controller accounts can still be used, but new ones cannot be created. https://forum.polkadot.network/t/staking-controller-deprecation-plan-staking-ui-leads-comms/2748
If you would like to use the functionality of a controller (allow staking functionality of a stash account from a different account), you can use a staking proxy. For details on setting these up, see https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/learn-staking-advanced#staking-proxies
Referendum 23, proposing to set Polkassembly as a registrar for the Polkadot identity system, is now up for vote. https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/23
For more information on how identity works in Polkadot, see https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/learn-identity
There are 25 other referenda up for vote on Polkadot OpenGov. https://polkadot.js.org/apps/#/referenda
