Welcome to Yoki Origins!

This guide will help you better understand the various ways to participate in Yoki Origins.

Yoki Origins is the official Astar zkEVM launch campaign aiming to bring web3 to everyone. Join in and interact with participating projects to experience a premiere showcase of the cutting-edge technology that powers Astar zkEVM.

Prepare to collect OMA, acquire digital collectibles, and discover all the amazing art and stories behind the mysterious Yoki creatures on this one-of-a-kind adventure.

Yoki Origins begins on the 7th of March and will be open until the beginning of May 2024. The goal is to discover all the Yoki by opening capsules and fusing them. As you progress, you’ll collect “Lore” (our version of points) and rank on the Yoki Leaderboard. What are you waiting for? Let’s dive in!

Overview of the campaign

The Yoki Origins campaign is a 2-month celebration around Astar zkEVM launch aimed at making web3 more engaging and accessible, for all.

Throughout the campaign, participants discover and collect original “Yoki'' characters which are heavily inspired by traditional Japanese folklore and supernatural creatures known as Yokai. As a modern take on this rich piece of culture, participants collect Yoki by interacting with YoPorts, Astar’s iteration of the widely popular Japanese “gacha machines”. The campaign features numerous YoPorts, each individually customized and belonging to different projects from top Japanese enterprises, renowned artists, to combinations of new and established web3 teams. Get ready to have fun in this unique and immersive adventure!

Understanding the Lingo

Yoki

Yoki are Astar’s original characters featured in Yoki Origins. Each Yoki character is created by professional Japanese illustrators, with each referencing a traditional supernatural entity. As participants acquire and grow yoki they learn more about their individual backgrounds, while enjoying high quality artwork that makes each one truly special.

YoPort

Our capsule machines, or YoPorts, have the duty of showcasing the best of what Astar zkEVM has to offer from the start. Once the official Yoki Origins website goes live, participants will be able to witness beautiful designs front and center and cycle through them as new projects come onboard each week. Each YoPort depicts a cultural aspect of Japan that we have grown to appreciate and admire.

Techwise we have gone out of our way to provide a seamless experience while interacting with YoPorts, which dispense original NFTs. Those participating in Yoki Origins can find their favorite projects on the website, and support them by interacting with their YoPorts.

Depending on individual project requirements, participants may need to perform certain actions ranging from following the project's social networking accounts to on-chain tasks, before they can obtain NFTs from the YoPort. Participants will be prompted to complete the quest before they can obtain the NFT provided by the project. Once the quest is completed, participants can indicate they have done so on the website before turning the handle on the YoPort to obtain the NFT.

Each YoPort contains a brief introduction to the representative project and an image of the NFT being offered as a preview.

The contents and prices of the NFTs offered vary in each YoPort. Some are free and mintable (gas only), while some YoPorts charge a fee. Some allow you to use ETH on Astar zkEVM for purchase, or you may also pay with a credit or debit card.

The system is set up for new YoPorts to appear each week, so there is always something to do and new projects to learn about throughout the approximately two-month campaign period.

Updates to the YoPort selections will be announced from Astar Network's official X account from time to time, so please be sure to check back often.

So far, more than 30 projects are joining in the fun, offering a diverse set of available experiences; something for everyone. As mentioned previously, YoPorts roll out on a weekly basis, so stay up to date by following the Astar Network X account for the latest announcements.

1st Edition YoPort

To commemorate this historic launch, and to show gratitude to the community of users who stay attentive to our socials, we are releasing a special “1st Edition YoPort”. This YoPort contains the Golden Capsule, and inside it is the Golden For Spirit NFT. This is your chance to mint a piece of history, and is only available to participants who sign up for the whitelist prior to the campaign launch.

Yoki YoPort

With a simple turn of the YoPort dial, participants embark on an adventure to uncover which Yoki awaits them. During the course of the 2-month long campaign, new Yoki YoPorts, each containing 3 new types of Yoki in marked capsules, will be released in batches. With 12 different types of Yoki, those in tune with the magic may already know - it’s wise to start collecting early! The Yoki YoPort also includes a randomization component, so there's no telling what you’ll get - just like real life, and you may even get a duplicate! It’s all by design. There is no limit to how many capsules can be minted.

OMA

OMA, which stands both for Omamori (Japanese amulet) and Omake (extra in Japanese), is the essential “virtual token” for the campaign and used for purposes related to Yoki. The OMA token can be used for the following:

• Play a Yoki YoPort to collect a Yoki capsule: Cost 1 OMA
• Open a Yoki capsule: Cost 3 OMA
• Fuse basic Yoki to get a rarer Yoki. Cost: 4 OMA

There are 2 methods to attain OMA once the campaign is live:

• Automatically: As users complete the YoPort quest (when requested) and mint NFTs from projects (automatically collected)
• Manually: Users have the option of claiming a daily OMA bonus. The button will be in the navigation bar.

Participants can mint a limited number of OMA each day, and hold a maximum of 50 OMA in their wallets at any given time. Being a scarce asset, participants are advised to use OMA wisely and to gather as many as they can to achieve the best experience.

Note: The amount of daily OMA bonus will be increased for the first week of the campaign. Participants can expect to collect 6 OMA per day! Don’t miss out on this head start!

Navigating the Website

The campaign website is designed not only to make participation enjoyable but also to provide an exceptional user experience. We aim to educate participants about web3 and the new digital frontier they are embarking on. With its intuitive UI design, we want everyone to jump right in, and experience the magic and allure of this one-of-a-kind adventure.

Here’s a quick explanation of everything you can do on the Yoki Origins website.

Traveling to different “regions”

The Yoki Origins website showcases various aspects of Japan - from picturesque landscapes to its rich cultural sites and traditions. Each region features unique YoPorts, browsed through by using the arrow buttons at the bottom of the screen, each invoking the notion of traveling through Japan as you navigate and interact with various elements on the site. There are five regions: the Japanese Countryside, Mt. Fuji and Train Platform, NeoTokyo, Castle, and the Forest.

Fusion Springs

The Fusion Springs page is where the magic happens. This is where capsules are opened and Yoki fusions take place. As participants collect, open capsules, and obtain duplicates, they can be fused together here by interacting with the fusion element on the page. Let your Yoki evolve into unique and beautiful creatures – collect at least 3 of each and perform fusion to upgrade their rareness! Each Yoki can fuse into 3 possible forms, with some being more rare than others. The rarity levels are Basic (for Yoki that come in capsules), Noble, Fabled, and Legendary, for fused Yoki

Note: The action of “fusing” requires OMA.

Yoki Leaderboard

Our website native Yoki Leaderboard is a showcase of achievement and exploration within the enchanting world of Yoki. As participants engage in collecting and transforming Yokis, they are not only expanding their knowledge of these mystical creatures; but also elevating their standing within the community. The Leaderboard is where individual participants’ efforts are recognized and ranked, offering a clear view of their progress and how they measure up against fellow adventurers. Engage in friendly competition, strive for top ranks, and see your name ascend as you master the art of collection and fusion.

Yokicho Book

In Japan, a Goshuincho is an “honorable stamp/seal book” used by people visiting shrines or temples to collect unique stamps. Inspired, we made our own version called Yokicho (世奇帳), where users will be able to see all the Yoki collected and fused. You can freely interact with the book, turning the pages and reading the imaginative descriptions for each of these wonderful creatures. Their stories are filled with engaging info and most of them connect with the yokai they are based on.

Build your collection, and seek out the undiscovered ones on a weekly basis as the campaign reveals new Yoki capsules for participants to mint. Once collected, they are yours forever, existing as NFTs. Moreover, you will be able to see your NFTs on display within the following marketplaces: Rarible, Dew, and Bluez.

Bridging

The Bridge button in the navigation bar is used for bringing in ETH to the user's account. To ensure you have enough ETH on your wallet, it is strongly recommended that you bridge some ETH over Astar zkEVM from this button.

ETH Top Up (Coming soon!)

You will be able to access Alchemy Pay from clicking the following button. When you prefer simply topping up ETH in your wallet, use this option.

Language: English/Japanese

Participants have the option of choosing between English and Japanese versions to allow for greater accessibility and a seamless experience for the users.

Lore: Understanding our Points System

Lore can be thought of as in-game points, and they are obtained in several ways throughout the campaign. The more lore collected, the higher a participant's ranking on the Yoki Leaderboard. Check out some ways lore is distributed:

1. Lore for ownership of assets

At any point during the campaign, a participant receives lore if they have ownership of any of the following:

• Yoki capsule
• Yoki
• Fused Yoki

2. Bonus lore

At any point during the campaign, bonus lore is distributed to participants for meeting any the following criteria:

• Holding 3 types of the same fused Yoki
• Holding all types of fused Yoki and Base Yoki
• Holding Yoki found within capsules dispensed by YoPorts (not bought from a marketplace)
• Holding fused Yoki as the original owner (not bought secondhand from a marketplace)

NOTE: The bonus lores that require “Owning” certain types of Yokis will only be applied while the user holds the Yoki. This means that once the user no longer owns the Yoki, the lore will no longer be applied.

Lore points are aggregated, recorded, and shown on the leaderboard, accessible via the navigation bar on the website.

At certain points in time during the campaign as well as at the end of the campaign, top-ranking participants will receive a special opportunity and chance to win some amazing limited-edition prizes.

Updates

As the campaign moves forward, we expect more questions to be asked. This manual will therefore be a living resource, being updated frequently with information we deem important. We will also release further updates on social media, so be sure to follow the X account @AstarComms and @AstarNetwork.
