Kappa Sigma Mu. The exclusive club thriving within the Kusama chain.
The Kappa Sigma Mu (K.S.M.) society lives within the Kusama blockchain and is made up of a group of people who have agreed to follow membership rules.
To belong to the society they must demonstrate to other members that they have had a tattoo and that their tattoo meets a series of characteristics:
It must have minimum measurements and contain one of the logos that represent the Kusama network. The canary is the most used example.
But the most curious part is that each member must refer to the previous member by writing the code that identifies them on their skin.
In this way, the members of society are forming a Human Chain, just as the blockchain itself does by joining each block to the previous block using codes (or hashes) that uniquely identify them.
To belong to K.S.M. It is not necessary to prove your identity, nor show any other part of your body except the tattoo.
The incentives to participate are very interesting and are based on a system of bidding and democracy on the network.
The society has a "pot" that is filled by contributing a portion of the funds from the Kusama treasury. To date there are more than 160 members and each of them has received a certain amount of KSM after successfully completing the entire process. It is the other members who finally vote and approve the new candidate through direct "on-chain" democracy if he has met the rules to belong to this society.
In addition to this, the society encourages the permanence of its members through incentives. Every so often, at random, a member is selected to prove that she still belongs to the society. To do this you must provide proof. Usually a recent photograph taken next to the code of the last block on the network.
With this initiative, Kusama achieves several objectives in one fell swoop. On the one hand, there is no doubt that it is giving enormous visibility to the project. Furthermore, all those people who are interested in participating will necessarily have to learn the basic management of a blockchain. For example, use and custody of private keys, fund management, governance.
