OG Tracker August 2024 Report

Overview

No summer break for Polkadot's OpenGov, as everything remained quite active throughout August! Although we witnessed one of the months with the lowest expenses in DOT, it was among the highest in expenses in stablecoins (USDT/USDC).

Specifically, this month saw 45 proposals approved, with expenses totaling 849,575 DOT and 1,381,873 in stablecoins (USDT/USDC).

This month, we are pleased to report that not only we had NO new flagged proposals, but, even better, 2 of the previously flagged referenda have been marked as delivered, successfully fulfilling their promises!

This is exactly the approach we encourage proposers to take. Even if you face delays or other challenges, you can always continue working and eventually complete your REF. We are more than happy to unflag proposals 🙂

Even though the proposer failed to deliver his proposal on time, he remained committed to fulfill his work while being extremely transparent & communicative with us throughout this time!

Additionally he will not request the remaining 25% amount of funds due to the occurred delays & some minor modifications of the initial established tasks, a notable act.

After 3+ months of conducting regular independent monitors from the limited available resources we had, the proposal was successfully identified as completed✅

However, Even if the proposal eventually delivered, the team's poor practices and lack of transparency were concerning.

- Closed source, making it difficult to track.

- 0 updates about the progress towards the community.

- 0 responsiveness to our calls.

We hope the team will be more transparent and apply different approaches on their potential future grants!
